Housing First and Harm Reduction 101 Akron Ohio (In-person)

This in-person training will cover the basics of Housing First and Harm Reduction. Housing First is an approach to ending homelessness that centers on providing people experiencing homelessness with housing quickly and providing services as needed. To ensure fidelity to the housing first model, harm reduction practices will need to be incorporated into your program. This training will introduce the philosophy, principles, and strategies of the Harm Reduction model and how it could be helpful in strategizing safer use, managed use, or abstinence in your program.
Improving Impact: Serving LGBTQ Individuals with Dignity and Respect (Webinar)

In this webinar, homeless and housing providers will learn about the concepts of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression. We will build on the common understandings of the LGBTQ community and invite participants to engage in shaping the culture of more inclusive organizations through everyday interactions. Participants will learn about the importance of ally-ship and how to navigate the role of an ally in conjunction with their role. The ability to offer support to those who are undergoing a gender transition in any organizations is nuanced. So, significant time discussing how to meet some of the needs that transgender people face and strategies that can be implemented to meet those needs. A culture can be created and a structure can be put in place which will allow for all who engage with your organization to thrive.
