COHHIO is committed to eliminating racial disparities in homelessness and housing systems across Ohio. Our work begins by acknowledging the truth: Black, Indigenous, and other people of color are disproportionately impacted by housing instability and homelessness.
Lasting change is only possible when equity is intentionally centered in every aspect of service delivery and system design. Through Internal leadership and statewide collaboration, we apply a racial equity lens to all areas of our work, from data analysis and policy advocacy to training and technical assistance.
Advancing racial equity takes collective effort, both within organizations and across systems. REACH Ohio—the Racial Equity Action Committee on Homelessness in Ohio—is a statewide coalition dedicated to building a more equitable homeless response system. Led by providers, system leaders, advocates, and individuals with lived experience, the group works together to confront and dismantle the racial disparities embedded in housing and homelessness systems.
Integrating racial equity throughout homelessness response system means preparing professionals with training to ensure that services are fair and accessible to everyone. REACH Ohio fosters strong cross-sector partnerships to build an equitable housing system founded on justice, dignity, and equal opportunity for all.
We invite you to join us! All REACH Ohio members must have completed COHHIO’s Racial Equity Trainings, agree to uphold the mission, attend monthly or bi-monthly meetings, and be ready to share your experience and expertise.
REACH Ohio is comprised of a steering committee and two change teams: Policy and Culture Change and Centering Voices of the Most Impacted.

Because racial disparities in homelessness are not accidental. In fact, they are the result of historic and ongoing systemic inequities. COHHIO believes that addressing the root causes of these disparities is essential to creating a truly fair and effective housing system.
In addition to training, COHHIO provides technical assistance, resource toolkits, peer learning opportunities, and ongoing consultation to help organizations integrate racial equity principles into their everyday practices.
We analyze both qualitative and quantitative data through a racial equity lens to identify disparities, set goals, and guide change.
Program managers, frontline staff, system leaders, and advocates working in housing, homelessness, or related systems are encouraged to attend.
REACH Ohio is a statewide external coalition. While REC focuses on COHHIO’s internal operations, REACH drives collective racial equity action across the state’s homeless response systems.
The REC is an internal working group within COHHIO that leads organizational efforts to embed racial equity across programs, policies, and staff development.
