Bridges: Housing and Supports for Youth Who Have Emancipated from Foster Care – Two-Part Webinar Series
Join us for a webinar on May 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM EDT.
On June 13th, 2016, Governor Kasich signed in to law House Bill 50, also known as Fostering Connections. This legislation authorized ODJFS to develop a statewide program entitled Bridges, which will extend services and supports for young adults who age out of foster care up to their 21st birthday.
In part one of this webinar series presenters will highlight the importance of engaging child welfare in homeless prevention and housing planning efforts. They will discuss what post emancipation supports are currently available for young adults who have aged out of care and will also provide an overview of Bridges and the significant role the program will play in efforts around preventing and ending youth homelessness in Ohio.
In part two, Bridges program staff will discuss the vendors that were selected and how they will provide housing and case management to the young adults enrolled in Bridges. Presenters will also highlight the importance of developing partnerships with community providers and vendors to offer additional support and services to the young adults in the program. Bridges staff will also take time to hear from attendees about regional resources that currently exist for transition aged youth, and any areas of need.
Part 2 – Date to be determined
